youth praying for one another at Tri Lakes youth group

At the Tri Lakes youth group, we are serious about three things: getting to know Jesus better, helping others in the community, and having fun!

  • Bible Study

Jesus taught us that the Greatest Commandment is to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." (Matthew 22:37) We believe that Jesus desires to have a personal relationship with each one of us and that He desires that we get to know Him better. We strive to follow Jesus’ Commandment by reading and studying His Word, praying together, and by having lively, open discussions where we discuss life and how it relates to God’s Word. We support each other on our Christian journey and as believers of the living Christ.

  • Community Service

Jesus also taught us to "love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:39) We are learning how important it is to give to others and "to be Jesus" to those in need, so in order to live this out in our everyday lives, we devote one night a month to helping people in our church and in our community. Some examples of service projects that we’ve participated in are:

    • Put together gift baskets for the women of Church Community Services’ Soup of Success program in Elkhart
    • Organized a food drive for Church Community Services and raised 320 pounds of food and toiletry items
    • Walked and raised money for the women and children that live at St. Margaret’s House in downtown South Bend
    • Packed boxes of food and supplies for Feed The Children in Elkhart
    • Packed gift bags for low-income families at Christmas
    • Helped many families in the church with various projects
  • Fun Times

Although we love to learn about the Lord and help others, we also love to have a blast! We usually play a fun game before the Bible lesson each week and we also devote one night a month to doing a fun activity such as bowling, ice skating, playing board games, watching movies, sledding, etc… In the summer, we have attended concerts, gone to amusement parks, gone to water parks, beaches, and have been camping together. We welcome anyone to come and visit our group that is curious about God; no prior knowledge or experience needed. If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
